Terrain: |
The Turkey Creek Ranch offers a
great variety of hunting with varying terrain and year round
live water. Large vistas with canyons overlook Turkey Creek
and three of the food plots, providing great viewpoints for
hunting or a cabin site. Some areas of the higher ground are
heavy mesquite brush and some have more open grassy areas.
All along the 1+ mile stretch of the live creek there are
hardwoods, large plum thickets, and heavily wooded areas.
Turkey Creek has several large pools and deep holes
providing potential areas for ponds. Ducks land in these
areas and travel the creek. The whitetail deer tend to
travel and stage near the creek, while the mule deer are
more likely to be seen in the rougher areas of the ranch.
According to the owner, the ratio of whitetail to mule deer
is approximately 50/50. Turkey roost along the creek in the
large cottonwood and other hardwood trees. The wooded draws
throughout the ranch offer excellent quail hunting and with
the flowing creek and abundance of plum thickets, the quail
will not have to travel far to water or good habitat. |
