Terrain: |
The Green Ranch, owned and operated by the same family since
the 1960’s, is an excellent Northwest
Texas hunting and cattle ranch that offers
seclusion yet is easily accessible. This area is known for
its large deer and the size of this property is suitable to
implement your own game management. The diverse terrain
ranges from thick mesquite flats to dense hackberry and plum
lined creek bottom areas and also lots of elevation change
with some more scenic open country. One of the biggest
assets of the Green Ranch is the many ponds that are
scattered over the entire acreage of the ranch, providing
year-round watering sources for wildlife and cattle. The
owners have implemented a pond clean out program and they
make sure and maintenance at least a few ponds every season
to ensure always having water even in extreme droughts. The
ponds range from deep small canyon type ponds to more
expansive dirt ponds that back up into brushy draws creating
excellent habitat for waterfowl and fish. There are several
creeks that wind across the Green Ranch and it is very
common to find groups of 50+ turkey and large numbers of
deer traveling these areas. For the rifle hunter, the more
elevated areas with less mesquite, offer excellent vantage
points for viewing wildlife at a distance moving from draw
to draw. The food plot areas are also a huge draw for
wildlife and offer a great place to see large numbers of
game. In the winter months, the ponds are frequented by
duck and geese, and the brushy areas near the banks are
perfect for waterfowl hunting or just watching. This
recreational ranch offers large numbers of wildlife and can
be setup to hunt many different kinds of setups from ground
blinds to high-rise tower blinds. In the off season with
the hog hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling trails, it can
be enjoyed year-round and there is always an adventure
awaiting! |
